NHL: Detroit 4, Dallas 1

DETROIT, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Valtteri Filppula logged a pair of goals Tuesday and the Detroit Red Wings kept Dallas on the skids with a 4-1 victory.

Filppula scored on a first-period power play to even the game at 1-1 and added the second two third-period markers for the Red Wings, who bounced back from a Sunday overtime loss to Chicago.

Henrik Zetterberg chipped in with a goal and an assist while Jimmy Howard turned aside 25 shots for Detroit.

Dallas, meanwhile, slumped to its fourth straight setback.

Loui Eriksson collected the Stars' only goal and Kari Lehtonen turned aside 21 shots in the loss.
