NHL: Winnipeg 4, Washington 2

WASHINGTON, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Evander Kane notched a goal and an assist Tuesday and the Winnipeg Jets bounced Washington 4-2 for their first win of the lockout-shortened NHL season.

Tobias Enstrom provided assists on three of the Jets' four goals and Ondrej Pavelec turned aside 32 shots as Winnipeg spoiled the Capitals' home opener.

Blake Wheeler, Jim Slater and Andrew Ladd also found the net in the victory.

Washington, meanwhile, fell to 0-2 on the young season as Braden Holtby was touched for four goals on 39 shots.

Troy Brouwer and Matt Hendricks tallied for the Caps.
