NBA: Cleveland 95, Boston 90

CLEVELAND, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Kyrie Irving poured in 40 points Tuesday, including 11 down the stretch, and Cleveland kept Boston on the skids with a 95-90 win over the Celtics.

Irving helped the Cavs get off to a quick start with 19 first-quarter points and was successful on 16 of his 24 shots overall as Cleveland notched a win in its return home following a 1-4 road trip.

Cleveland's Tristan Thompson also made a big contribution with 21 points and nine rebounds.

Boston, meanwhile, stumbled to its fourth straight loss despite 17 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists from Rajon Rondo.

Kevin Garnett added 16 points for the Celtics.
