TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Elijah Dukes, who played for the Tampa Bay Rays and Washington Nationals, has been arrested in Tampa, Fla., for failure to appear in court, jail records show.

Dukes -- who has been arrested multiple times on charges including assault and failure to pay child support -- was wanted on several drug and traffic charges, the Tampa Bay (Fla.) Times reported Monday.

He had several outstanding warrants for failure to appear in court for possession of marijuana, tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He also faces charges for driving with a canceled or revoked license.

The 28-year-old Tampa native played for the Rays in 2007. He played for the Washington Nationals in 2008 and 2009 and has not played in the major leagues since then.

He finished his career with a .242 batting average, 31 home runs and 123 RBI in 240 games over parts of three seasons.
