WENGEN, Switzerland, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Felix Neureuther of Germany was strong in the second run and nabbed the victory in the men's World Cup slalom in Switzerland Sunday.

Neureuther came from behind to pass first-run leader Marcel Hirscher of Austria and notch his second World Cup win of the season in a combined time of 1 minute, 50.53 seconds, 0.21 seconds ahead of Hirscher.

Croatian Ivica Kostelic took third place. Ted Ligety was the top U.S. finisher with a 13th place.

Hirscher, the overall men's points leader, was riding a streak of three consecutive slalom victories coming into Sunday's competition at Wengen. He looked like he was on his way to a victory but seemed to push too hard toward the end and wound up with a flaw that caused him to lose valuable time. He turned in a combined time of 1:50.74.
