LOS ANGELES, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Marian Hossa notched two goals and added an assist Saturday, powering Chicago over Los Angeles 5-2 in the belated NHL season opener for both teams.

Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews each chipped in a goal and an assist for the Blackhawks, who spoiled the Kings' celebration of their 2011-12 Stanley Cup championship, which was commemorated with a pre-game, banner-raising ceremony.

Corey Crawford turned aside 19 shots for the Hawks, who opened a shortened, 48-game NHL season following a 113-day lockout with a solid victory.

Jonathan Quick -- who claimed the Conn Smythe trophy while leading the Kings to their first franchise championship last season -- was torched for three first-period goals in the loss.

Jordan Nolan and Rob Scuderi scored for Los Angeles.
