KAUPULEHU-KONA, Hawaii, Jan. 18 (UPI) -- David Frost had an eagle on his way to a 7-under 65 Friday that gave him the lead after one round of the Mitsubishi Electric Championship.
In the year's opening day of action on the Champions Tour, Frost suffered a lone bogey on the Hualalai course on the island of Hawaii and started his bid for a fourth win on the circuit. Two of his tour victories came last year.
Tom Lehman, the two-time defending Charles Schwab Cup champion, shared second place at 66 along with Kirk Triplett, Willie Wood, John Cook, Fred Couples and 63-year-old Tom Kite.
John Huston, Russ Cochran and Kenny Perry were tied for eighth at 67. Former PGA Championship winner Steve Elkington made his tour debut as part of the 40-player field and shot a 4-under 68.
