LAKE FOREST, Ill., Jan. 18 (UPI) -- Matt Cavanaugh, Chicago Bears offensive coordinator in 1997-98, is returning as quarterbacks coach, the team announced Friday.

Cavanaugh spent the past four seasons working with New York Jets quarterbacks.

The 15-year NFL coaching veteran also was offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens.

Cavanaugh was a star player for Pitt in college and a backup quarterback on Super Bowl-winning teams with the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers.
