NBA: Chicago 108, New York 101

NEW YORK, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- Luol Deng's 33 points lifted Chicago to a huge lead Friday and the Bulls easily held on to defeat New York 108-101.

The Bulls dealt the Knicks their third straight loss and joined New York as the only teams in the Eastern Conference with 10 road wins.

Chicago's lead grew to as many as 22 points in the latter stages of the third period, giving the Bulls enough of a cushion to withstand a late New York surge.

Deng made 13-of-18 shots as part of an impressive 57 percent shooting effort by the Bulls. Carlos Boozer added 17 points, Richard Hamilton had 14 and both Marco Belinelli and Taj Gibson had 12.

New York's Carmelo Anthony returned from a one-game suspension to score 39 points, but the rest of the Knicks' starters produced only 26.

Anthony was suspended for confronting Boston's Kevin Garnett after a game on Monday.
