Dustin Johnson completes Hyundai victory

KAPALUA, Hawaii, Jan. 8 (UPI) -- Second-round leader Dustin Johnson fired a 5-under-par 68 Tuesday, cruising to a season-opening victory at the wind-shortened Hyundai Tournament of Champions.

Johnson, up by three strokes following two rounds played Monday, followed up that marathon effort with another strong round on Tuesday's final 18 holes to finish at 16-under 203.

It was the seventh PGA Tour title for Johnson, who became the first player since Tiger Woods (1996-2001) to win a PGA tournament six consecutive years after coming out of college.

Heavy winds at the Plantation Course at Kapalua forced complete cancellations of rounds scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, shortening the tournament to 54 holes.

Steve Stricker, battling a nerve disorder in his upper thigh, claimed sole possession of second place at 12-under with a 4-under 69.

Placing third at 10-under was Brandt Snedeker (69).

Bubba Watson (71) and Keegan Bradley (70) ended in a fourth-place tie at minus-9.
