ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 5 (UPI) -- Carmelo Anthony pumped in 40 points Saturday for the New York Knicks, who handed Orlando an eighth straight loss, 114-106.

Anthony also hauled down six rebounds and handed out six assists for the Knicks, who improved to 23-10 with their second win in two games.

J.R. Smith provided New York with 18 points and six rebounds, while Jason Kidd chipped in with 15 points, eight boards and seven assists.

Tyson Chandler helped out the Knicks with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Arron Afflalo and Jameer Nelson each scored 29 points, but it wasn't enough to halt the Magic's skid.
