NEW YORK, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Brook Lopez scored 35 points Saturday and Brooklyn improved to 2-0 under interim Coach P.J. Carlesimo with a 103-100 decision over Cleveland.
Deron Williams recorded 15 points with seven assists for the Nets, who took a second straight victory after Carlesimo was tabbed to replace the fired Avery Johnson.
Joe Johnson provided 15 points, while Gerald Wallace and Reggie Evans each scored seven and hauled down 10 rebounds for the Nets.
Lopez also grabbed 11 rebounds.
The Cavaliers couldn't quite catch up as Kyrie Irving (13 points, seven assists) missed a potential score-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer.
C.J. Miles pumped in 33 points -- including eight 3-pointers -- and Tristan Thompson added 17 and 15 rebounds for Cleveland.
