LOS ANGELES, Dec. 25 (UPI) -- Kobe Bryant poured in 34 points on 14-for-24 shooting Tuesday and the Los Angeles Lakers avenged an earlier loss to New York with a 100-94 win over the Knicks.

Steve Nash -- who was injured during the Lakers' Dec. 13 bashing by New York -- contributed 16 points, 11 assists and six rebounds this time around as Los Angeles reeled off its fifth straight win following the setback.

Metta World Peace came off the bench to pop in 20 points and grab seven rebounds, while Pau Gasol supplied 13 points, eight boards and six helpers for the Lakers, who used a 12-2 run in the fourth quarter to pull away.

Carmelo Anthony equaled Bryant with 34 points as the Knicks fell for the third time in five games.

J.R. Smith provided 25 points off the bench for New York.
