SACRAMENTO, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Marcus Thornton popped in 22 points Sunday and the Sacramento Kings overcame the loss of suspended DeMarcus Cousins to blow past Portland 108-96.

John Salmons added 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists, while Travis Outlaw came off the bench to go 6-of-7 from the field en route to 15 points as the Kings won for the second time in three games.

Sacramento was playing without Cousins, suspended indefinitely Saturday for conduct detrimental to the team after the center reportedly getting into a heated argument with Coach Keith Smart.

LaMarcus Aldridge led the Trail Blazers with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Nicolas Batum and Damien Lillard combined for 32 points and 15 assists in Portland's loss.
