NBA: Detroit 96, Washington 87

WASHINGTON, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Charlie Villanueva and Rodney Stuckey combined for 37 points Saturday and the Detroit Pistons kept Washington on the skids, 96-87.

Villanueva scored 19 points, while Stuckey contributed 18 with eight assists for the Pistons, who used a tough defense to hold the Wizards to just 37.7 percent from the field.

Greg Monroe (13 points, eight rebounds), Jason Maxiell (12 points) and Brandon Knight (10) also reached double figures for Detroit, which improved to 9-21 on the season.

Washington, meanwhile, dropped its seventh straight and fell to a league-worst 3-22.

Jordan Crawford tallied 21 points for the Wizards.
