SACRAMENTO, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins has been suspended indefinitely for unprofessional behavior, the team announced Saturday.

The Kings also cited conduct detrimental to the team in suspending Cousins, who is reported to have gotten into an argument Friday with Coach Keith Smart during halftime of Sacramento's 97-85 loss at the Los Angeles Clippers.

The controversial center didn't play in the second half of the contest.

Cousins -- who is averaging 16.6 points and 9.5 rebounds per game this season -- had been hit with one-game suspensions twice since the season began.

He was sanctioned for striking Dallas guard O.J. Mayo in the groin this month, while in November he was banned for a verbal altercation with San Antonio Spurs announcer and former player Sean Elliott.
