SAN ANTONIO, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Stephen Jackson's hostile Twitter comments about fellow basketball player Serge Ibaka have led to a $25,000 fine, the NBA and the San Antonio Spurs announced.

The Spurs' Jackson offered inflammatory remarks about the Oklahoma City Thunder's Ibaka after an altercation between Ibaka and Metta World Peace, Jackson's friend and former teammate on the Indiana Pacers, after a game between the Thunder and the Los Angeles Lakers Friday, the San Antonio Express-News reported Monday.

"Next time he (Ibaka) run up on me I'm goin in his mouth. That's a promise," was part of the Twitter threat, the newspaper said.

Spurs general manager R.C. Buford made it clear the team was disturbed by Jackson's comments, calling them "absolutely unacceptable and do not reflect standards held by the San Antonio Spurs."

Jackson deleted the remarks Saturday and posted an apology Sunday, saying, "It was unprofessional and childish. I'm not a thug, just a man who speaks his mind. It was not appropriate. I do apologize."
