SANTA ANA, Calif., Dec. 7 (UPI) -- Authorities in California have ordered former NBA star Dennis Rodman to pay $500,000 in back child support payments to his ex-wife.

Orange County Superior Court Commissioner Barry Michaelson warned the former Chicago Bulls star he could be sent to jail if he fails to pay the sum, which was worked out by lawyers for Rodman and ex-wife Michelle outside of court and approved by the commissioner, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

A trial is set for Jan. 24 to determine custody and visitation issues for the couple's two children, a boy and a girl.
