ALMERE, Netherlands, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- A Dutch soccer official who was beaten up after a weekend match between amateur teams in Almere has died, authorities in the Netherlands said.

Linesman Richard Nieuwenhuizen, 41, was attacked by a group of youths after the match between the Amsterdammers and the Almere club Buitenboys, DutchNews.nl reported.

Three youths were arrested at their homes Sunday evening in connection with the fatal beating and police have not ruled out more arrests.

The Dutch soccer association said it was conducting its own investigation.
