BOSTON, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- The Boston Red Sox and free-agent catcher-first baseman Mike Napoli have agreed to a three-year, $39 million deal, sources told The Boston Globe.
The Seattle Mariners and Napoli's 2011 team, the Texas Rangers, were pursuing him as well, the Globe reported Monday.
The report said the Red Sox are also considering free-agent outfielder Josh Hamilton, who played for the Rangers last season.
