NEW YORK, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- New York Giants running back Andre Brown has a broken left fibula and has been placed on injured reserve, head Coach Tom Coughlin said Monday.

Brown -- who leads the Giants with eight rushing touchdowns -- likely will miss the rest of the season after leaving Sunday's win over the Green Bay Packers early in the fourth quarter.

An eight-week stay on the IR list means Brown could eligible to return this season only if New York reaches Super Bowl XLVII.

The 25-year-old has picked up 385 yards on 73 carries this season, including 64 yards on 13 attempts in Sunday's win.

He has served as the main backup to leading rusher Ahmad Bradshaw.
