CHARLOTTE, N.C., Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Three people, including two college football payers, were injured in a fight during a weekend house party in Charlotte, N.C., police said.

Police reported they responded to a report of shots being fired early Sunday, and although party goers had scattered, evidence of gunshots were found.

Investigators found an injured person in a nearby vehicle and sent him to a nearby hospital. Two other victims entered a different hospital a short time later, The Charlotte Observer reported Monday.

A spokesman for the University of North Carolina-Charlotte identified one victim as Prince Mayela, a member of the school's football team, and an Appalachian State University spokesman said another was a player on their team, Tashion Singleton.

Mayela and Singleton were high school football teammates, the newspaper said.

Mayela was shot in the hip, and his injuries were not believed to be serious. Singleton's injury was not explained. Police did not identify the third victim and had no suspects in the shooting.
