HOMESTEAD, Fla., Nov. 18 (UPI) -- Brad Keselowski corralled his first Sprint Cup Series championship Sunday with a 15th-place finish in the season-ending NASCAR race at Homestead, Fla.

Jeff Gordon won the Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway after avoiding a suspension due to an intentional wreck in last week's event at Phoenix.

Keselowski all but wrapped up the championship in Phoenix when five-time champion Jimmie Johnson was forced out of the race with 40 laps to go, falling 20 points off the pace.

Keselowski's Sprint Cup title was the first for team owner Roger Penske and the first for Dodge since Richard Petty's victory in 1975. Dodge will pull out of NASCAR competition after this season.

Gordon, meanwhile, claimed his second win of the season and the 87th of his Cup career.

Clint Bowyer finished second at Homestead, enabling him to nab second place in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship, 39 points behind Keselowski.
