ST. LOUIS, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- The St. Louis Cardinals will have alternate jerseys in 2013 bearing the words "St. Louis" on the front for the first time in 80 years, the team announced.

The Cardinals said Friday at a Busch Stadium news conference the alternate jerseys will be used for Saturday home games, making the team the 27th to introduce alternate jerseys beyond the usual home-and-away uniforms, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Friday.

"Look at this (third) jersey. I see it and think, 'We've got to wear that thing,'" President Bill DeWitt III said.

The New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and Detroit Tigers are the only remaining MLB teams with just two jerseys.
