NEW YORK, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina and New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira have each been voted their fifth Rawlings Gold Glove Award.

It was the fifth consecutive Gold Glove for Molina, who is the first National League catcher to accomplish that feat since Cincinnati's Johnny Bench won 10 straight times from 1968-77.

Teixeira won twice (2005, '06) while playing for Texas and twice previously (2009, '10) for the Yankees. Former Yankee Don Mattingly owns the American League record for Gold Gloves at first base with nine.

Philadelphia shortstop Jimmy Rollins, Texas third baseman Adrian Beltran and Miami pitcher Mark Buehrle were voted their fourth Gold Gloves. Buehrle has won four years in a row with the first three coming while he was with the Chicago White Sox.

There are nine first-time Gold Glove winners among the 19 players honored in 2012.

In the American League, Baltimore shortstop J.J. Hardy, Oakland right fielder Josh Reddick and pitchers Jeremy Hellickson of Tampa Bay and Jake Peavy of the White Sox are first-time winners. Washington first baseman Adam LaRoche, Chicago Cubs second baseball Darwin Barney, San Diego third baseman Chase Headley, Pittsburgh center fielder Andrew McCutcheon and Atlanta right fielder Jason Heyward took first-time honors in the National League.

Also being voted Gold Gloves in 2012 were: Baltimore catcher Matt Wieters, Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano, Kansas City left fielder Alex Gordon, Baltimore center fielder Adam Jones and Colorado left fielder Carlos Gonzalez. They all collected their second Gold Gloves.

Gold Glove Awards are determined by a vote of Major League managers and coaches. Recipients are considered to have shown superior individual fielding performances.
