EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Oct. 24 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Lakers announced Wednesday Kobe Bryant would not play in the team's last two exhibition games due to a sore right foot.
Bryant suffered the injury on Saturday during a meeting with the Sacramento Kings. The team said he will be re-evaluated over the weekend.
The Lakers have played six exhibition games this year and have lost them all. They will meet the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday and face the Kings again on Thursday.
Los Angeles will open the regular season on Oct. 30 with a home game against the Dallas Mavericks.
Bryant will be starting his 17th NBA season. His 29,484 points put him fifth on the all-time list behind Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, Karl Malone, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain.
