VILAMOURA, Portugal, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Ross Fisher used a late eagle Friday to build a three-stroke lead at the European Tour's Portugal Masters.

Fisher, a co-leader after the first round, shot 4-under-par 67 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 10-under 132. Stephen Gallacher, who shared the first-round lead, shot 1-under 70 Friday and is tied for second with Bernd Wiesberger, who shot 6-under 65 Friday. They are at 135 after two rounds.

Padraig Harrington, who had a 67 Friday, and Fredrik Andersson Hed (69) are at 6-under and tied for fourth.

Firsher's day started ominously as he slipped while walking off the first tee and it was questionable that he would be able to continue. But after some treatment he continued, ending up with a bogey 5 on the hole.

He got that stroke back at the fourth hole and then had seven consecutive pars. He posted -- as he did Thursday -- birdies at No. 12, 14 and 15 and -- as he did Thursday -- had a bogey at 16.

But he reached the 589-yard, par-5 17th in two and dropped a 22-foot putt for an eagle that pulled him clear of the field.
