Kenseth took the lead just after the massive pileup on the last turn of the final lap, which was triggered when then-leader Tony Stewart made contact with Michael Waltrip, spun around and ended up on top of Kasey Kahne's car.

Several Sprint Cup title contenders were involved the massive smashup, which came at the end of a two-lap shootout set up by Jamie McMurray's crash earlier in the closing laps.

No injuries were reported in the mishaps.

Kenseth's win was his second of the year following his season-opening triumph at the Daytona 500.

Jeff Gordon claimed the second spot, followed by Kyle Busch, David Ragan and Greg Biffle.

Moore nets win, tourney record in Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Ryan Moore carded a 5-under-par 66 Sunday, winning his backyard Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open with a record 24-under-par 260.

Moore -- a Las Vegas resident and alumnus of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas -- logged three birdies on the back nine at the TPC Summerlin course in Las Vegas, enabling him to edge Brendon de Jonge by one shot.

Moore, in winning his second PGA Tour event, bested the previous mark of 261 set last year by Kevin Na.

Third round co-leader de Jonge settled for a 4-under 67, claiming second place at minus-23.

Jonas Blixt, who also held a share of the lead after 54 holes, managed a 70 Sunday to grab sole possession of third at 20-under 264.

Jason Day (65) was fourth at minus-18 and Bill Lunde (66) claimed fifth at minus-15.

Langer's 63 nets SAS Championship title

CARY, N.C., Oct. 7 (UPI) -- Bernhard Langer claimed his second Champions Tour victory of the season Sunday, firing a 9-under 63 to log a two-shot win at the SAS Championship.

Langer avoided a playoff when Jay Don Blake failed to register a needed birdie on the 18th hole. He instead fell to a bogey, finishing two behind Langer's 13-under 203.

Second round co-leader Fred Funk registered a 1-under 71 to share fourth place with Tommy Armour III (66) at minus-9.

French filly upsets Japanese star in Arc

PARIS, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- French filly Solemia reeled in Japanese superstar Orfevre in the final yards to win Sunday's Group 1 Prix de l' Arc de Triomphe.

Masterstroke finished third and Haya Landa was fourth in a race run over heavy turf.

The race appeared to be over when Orfevre easily ran by the leaders, including Solemia, inside the final furlong and opened up a big and easy lead. But jockey Olivier Peslier never gave up on Solemia and as Orfevre shortened stride in the final 100 yards, the 4-year-old filly flashed by and won by about a neck.

The 1 1/2 miles went in 2:37.68, some 13 seconds slower than last year's time.

The other well-backed runners, including Camelot, St Nicholas Abbey, Shareta and Sea Moon, never figured in the running of Europe's most prestigious race. Last year's winner, Danedream, was caught in a quarantine in Germany and not able to defend her title.

Solemia came into the Arc off a third-place finish in the Prix Vermille, a race won by Shareta. She now has five wins, three second and two thirds from 13 career starts for owner/breeders Wertheimer & Frere.
