TORONTO, Oct. 6 (UPI) -- Hamdi Salihi scored on a late mistake by Toronto FC goalkeeper Milos Kocic Saturday and D.C. United posted a crucial 1-0 victory over TFC.
Maicon Santos fired a low shot at Kocic in the 86th minute of a scoreless match but the netminder couldn't handle it, leaving a wide-open tap-in for Salihi.

The victory was the fifth straight game without a loss for United (16-10-6), which solidified its playoff position in the Eastern Conference at 54 points with two games remaining.
Toronto (5-20-7) extended its winless streak to 12 games.
