Schilling lists 26-acre property for $3.5M

MEDFIELD, Mass., Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Former ace pitcher Curt Schilling has put his 26-acre Medfield, Mass., home on the market for $3.5 million, his real estate agent said.

The former Red Sox starter who led the team to its first world series in 87 years in 2006, is seeking to sell the 11,000-square-foot home with seven bedrooms, five bathrooms and three half-bathrooms. The property boasts a heated pool with a waterfall, sports courts, a beach volleyball court, a batting/pitching cage and a putting green, WPRI-TV, Providence, R.I., reported Tuesday.

Schilling has tried to sell the property, which he bought from former New England Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe in 2004, before. In 2008, Schilling listed the property at $8 million, eventually dropping his asking price to $4.5 million before taking it off the market. His real estate agent declined to say if there was any more interest this time around, asking $1 million less.

Schilling has seen his legacy as a star athlete tarnished after retiring. He founded 38 Studios, a video game company based in Massachusetts then uprooted the company for Rhode Island after the state offered him a $75 million taxpayer-guaranteed loan to bring the 400-employee operation there. The company declared bankruptcy in June and has laid off all its workers, potentially leaving Rhode Island taxpayers with the bill, WPRI reported.
