NEW YORK, Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Robinson Cano homered and added a two-run double during a nine-run second inning Monday that carried the New York Yankees to a 10-2 win over Boston.

CC Sabathia (15-6) delivered eight strong innings, yielding a pair of runs on four hits with seven strikeouts.

The victory gave the Yankees a one-game advantage over the Baltimore Orioles atop the AL East.

Buchholz ended up allowing eight runs on six hits over just 1 2/3 innings.
