NFL: San Diego 37, Kansas City 20

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Jackie Battle scored once on a pass reception and ran in another score Sunday in the San Diego Chargers' 37-20 spanking of Kansas City.

Philip Rivers hurled a pair of scoring strikes on his way to 209 yards on 18-of-23 efficiency for San Diego (3-1), which struck for 17 first-quarter points and never looked back.

Antonio Gates made three grabs for 59 yards as the Chargers rebounded from a 27-3 loss to Atlanta last week.

Kansas City (1-3) was done in by six turnovers as Matt Cassel was picked off three times in the first half.

He managed to complete 24-of-42 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns.
