MLS: Real Salt Lake 4, Chivas USA 0

CARSON, Calif., Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Alvaro Saborio netted a hat trick, including two goals early in the game that carried Real Salt Lake to a 4-0 thrashing of Chivas USA.

Saborio scored in the eighth and 11th minutes for Salt Lake, then made it 3-0 in the 65th minute.

Paulo Jr. finished the scoring in the 81st for RSL (16-11-4), which grabbed sole possession of second place in the Western Conference.

Chivas USA (7-16-7), meanwhile, dropped its sixth straight and saw its scoreless streak extended to 442 minutes.
