ATLANTA, Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Chipper Jones got a hit in his final regular-season home game and David Ross homered Sunday in Atlanta's 6-2 victory over the New York Mets.

Jones, who has announced he will retire and the end of the season, earned a thunderous round of applause at Turner Field as he walked off the field at game's end.

The likely future Hall-of-Famer went 1-for-2 while Ross' three-run shot provided sufficient offense for the Braves, who have clinched a playoff spot and moved to within three games of National League East-leading Washington with three games remaining.

Kris Medlen (10-1) collected his ninth win in 12 starts, baffling the Mets on three hits over six strong innings. He relinquished just one unearned run and struck out four.

The Braves won a game started by Medlen for the 23rd straight time, breaking a record set in 1963 by the New York Yankees' Whitey Ford.

Craig Kimbrel recorded his 42nd save.

New York's Jennry Mejia (1-2) surrendered four runs on six hits over five innings.
