WEST POINT, Ky., Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Investigators said a dragster crashed at a Kentucky race track Saturday night when the driver suffered a possible heart attack just before his race began.

The dragster was headed for the so-called burnout box at the Ohio Valley Dragway to spin his tires but failed to stop and struck two members of his pit crew, causing serious injuries to both, The Courier-Journal newspaper in Louisville, Ky., said.

The vehicle came to a halt against a concrete retaining wall separating the track from the grandstands.

The names of the injured were not released and there were few details of their conditions. Louisville Metro Police said one of the crew members suffered a head injury. Police traffic investigators were looking into the crash.
