Radwanska, Petrova to meet in Tokyo final

TOKYO, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska rolled back into the finals of the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo with a lopsided win Friday.

Radwanska, the No. 3 tournament seed, raced past fifth-seeded Angelique Kerber 6-1, 6-1 in 60 minutes. Radwanska piled up six breaks in seven receiving games.

She established control in the first set by finishing off all three of her break opportunities and allowing Kerber to win just four points on serve. Radwanska lost six points over three service games in the second set.

No. 17-seeded Nadia Petrova also advanced to the finals in straight sets, beating eighth-seeded Samantha Stosur 6-4, 6-2. Petrova had nine aces against no double faults and won 71 percent of the points on serve. She saved all three of Stosur's break-point chances.

Radwanska owns a 3-1 series advantage over Petrova but all four of the matches were in 2008.

Radwanska is 10-3 in previous WTA title matches. Five of her titles have come in the past year, starting with the 2011 championship in Tokyo. Petrova is 11-11 in finals, including a win in the Netherlands in June.

The Toray Pan Pacific champion will earn $385,000 while the runner-up takes home $192,000. Kerber and Stosur won $96,100 each as semifinalists.
