PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Kevin Frandsen put Philadelphia in front with the first of his team's four home runs Friday and the Phillies went on to down Atlanta 6-2.

Frandsen's solo homer came in the third inning and gave the Phillies a 2-1 lead, helping send them to their fourth straight victory.

Philadelphia moved within three games of St. Louis for the National League's second wild card spot. The Braves, despite the loss, stayed six games in front of the Cardinals for the No. 1 wild card position.

Ryan Howard and Carlos Ruiz both homered in the fourth inning and Chase Utley added a solo blast in the eighth. Utley also drove in Philadelphia's first run in the opening inning with a ground out.

Kyle Kendrick (10-11) went 6 2/3 innings to get the victory. He gave up both Atlanta runs on five hits with six strikeouts.

Three of Philadelphia's home runs came off Tommy Hanson (12-9) who worked 5 1/3 innings in taking the loss.
