GRAND FORKS, N.D., Sept. 18 (UPI) -- University of North Dakota hockey captains Andrew MacWilliam, Danny Kristo, Carter Rowney and Corban Knight were suspended Tuesday, the school announced.
UND captain MacWilliam as well as assistant captains Knight, Kristo and Rowney were suspended for the team's Oct. 19 opener against Alaska Anchorage in Fairbanks, Athletics Director Brian Faison said.
The players were sanctioned in connection with behavior at a team party Saturday.
"The behavior in this situation was unacceptable," Faison said in a statement. "Measures taken by the athletics department do not preclude possible additional measures by the department, or actions by the university or local and state authorities."
Kristo, Knight and Rowney are the top three scorers returning from last season, the (Minneapolis) Star Tribune reported.
