Serena Williams, on record streak, remains No. 1

WASHINGTON, Sept. 17 (UPI) -- Washington Redskins defensive starters Brian Orakpo and Adam Carriker will sit out the rest of the season with injuries, Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday.
Orakpo, an outside linebacker, and Carriker, a defensive end, will both undergo surgeries after being hurt during Washington's 31-28 loss Sunday at St. Louis.
Orakpo suffered a torn left pectoral muscle and Carriker tore a quad tendon. Their injuries are expected to require four or five months to heal.
Orakpo has recorded 170 tackles with 29 1/2 sacks since being drafted out of Texas in 2009.
Carriker has since started all but one of 34 games since joining the Redskins in 2010 in a trade with St. Louis. He has 125 career tackles with nine sacks.
