NFL: Minnesota 26, Jacksonville 23 (OT)

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Blair Walsh hit a 38-yard field goal in overtime Sunday, lifting the Minnesota Vikings to a 26-23 win over Jacksonville in the two teams' season opener.

Walsh also kicked a game-tying 55-yarder in the closing seconds of regulation, erasing a lead the Jaguars had posted on Blaine Gabberts' 39-yard TD toss to Cecil Shorts with 20 seconds left.

The overtime winner for Minnesota (1-0) was set up when Adrian Peterson -- playing in his first game since suffering torn knee ligaments late last season -- ripped off a 20-yard run to the Jacksonville 42.

The Jaguars (0-1) had one chance to at least tie the game after Walsh's kick, but Gabbert threw an incomplete pass on 4th-and-2, securing Minnesota's win.
