McIlroy wins second straight playoff

CARMEL, Ind., Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Rory McIlroy fired a 5-under-par 67 Sunday, rallying for a two-stroke win at the BMW Championship and taking second his FedEx Cup playoff victory in two weeks.

The world No. 1, who also claimed the Deutsche Bank Championship last week, ended the final round at 20-under-par 268, two ahead of Lee Westwood and Phil Mickelson at minus-18.

McIlroy notched his fourth victory this season and sixth time of his PGA Tour career and solidified his position in the driver's seat of the FedEx Cup race heading into the Tour Championship.

Westwood registered a 3-under 69, while Mickelson posted a 2-under 70 in Sunday's final round.

Mickelson gained the fourth spot on the playoff list with the performance.

Sharing fourth place were Tiger Woods (68) and Robert Garrigus (69) at 17-under 271.

Dustin Johnson and Adam Scott each turned in 70s Sunday to end knotted for sixth at minus-16.
