Albert Pujols went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored for Los Angeles, which came into the contest two games out of an American League wild card spot.

Verlander was roughed up for six runs on nine hits in six innings for the second-place Tigers, who fell two games behind the American League Central-leading Chicago White Sox.

Omar Infante knocked in Detroit's only run.
