NEW YORK, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Rain Saturday forced the postponement of the U.S. Open's women's final.

The match featuring Victoria Azarenka and Serena Williams had been set for Saturday evening but rain and high winds prompted tournament officials to postpone the event until Sunday.

Officials determined the event would begin at 4 p.m. EDT.

The top-seeded Azarenka of Belarus will take on Williams -- the fourth-seeded American star seeking her fourth title -- in the Sunday showdown.

Rain in New York also forced a delay in the start of the men's semifinals Saturday with more wet weather in the forecast.
