CARMEL, Ind., Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Phil Mickelson fired an 8-under 64-par and Vijay Singh stumbled late Saturday to produce a tie atop the leaderboard after three rounds of the BMW Championship.

Mickelson birdied four of the last six holes to end a spectacular round that also included four straight birdies on the front nine, finishing at 16-under 200 at Crooked Stick.

Second-round leader Singh, meanwhile, bogeyed two of the last three holes for a 3-under 69.

Right behind them at minus-15 are world No. 1 and FedEx Cup points leader Rory McIlroy -- who birdied the 18th hole for a 3-under 69 -- and Lee Westwood, who carded a 68.

Tied for fifth place at 14-under 202 are Dustin Johnson (67), Adam Scott (66) and Robert Garrigus (66).

Alone in eighth place at minus-13 is Tiger Woods, who appeared to have aggravated a knee injury during his round of 1-under 71.
