MLB: Washington 11, Chicago Cubs 5

WASHINGTON, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Adam LaRoche cracked a pair of homers Tuesday, going 4-for-4 in the Washington Nationals' 11-5 rout of the Chicago Cubs.

Washington launched six homers in all as Ian Desmond and Tyler Moore hit two-run shots and Jesus Flores and Ryan Zimmerman added bases-empty long balls for the National League East leaders.

Jayson Werth chipped in with four hits and an RBI as the Nats took the second contest of a four-game series.

Edwin Jackson (9-9) collected the win, yielding four runs on seven hits and a walk to go with eight strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings.

Chicago starter Chris Rusin (0-2) was tagged for five runs on eight hits with a walk and a strikeout over an inning-plus.

Alfonso Soriano knocked in three runs for the Cubs.
