MLB: Milwaukee 8, Miami 5

MIAMI, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- A pair of two-run homers by Rickie Weeks and another by Corey Hart Wednesday propelled Milwaukee to an 8-5 victory over Miami.

Both Weeks and Hart hit home runs during a four-run seventh inning that gave the Brewers a five-run lead and they held on to win for the ninth time in 11 games. Milwaukee was 12 games under .500 midway through August and is now just two games below the breakeven mark.

After the Brewers moved in front 6-1 with their big seventh inning, Miami scored four times in the bottom half of the inning.

Hart added some insurance in the ninth with a two-run double. Weeks hit his first two-run homer in the third inning. He has 16 homers for the year and Hart has 27.

Wily Peralta (1-0), making his first major league start, was credited with the win after giving up three runs on five hits in six innings. John Axford worked around a walk in the ninth to pick up his 25th save.

Nate Eovaldi (4-11) took the loss in a five-inning performance, during which he gave up two runs on six hits. He left the game with the Marlins trailing only 2-1.
