HOUSTON, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Jay Bruce sparked a late Cincinnati rally with a three-run homer Sunday and the Reds posted a big eighth inning to pull out a 5-3 win over Houston.
Cincinnati trailed 3-0 heading into the eighth, but managed to get Drew Stubbs and Brandon Phillips aboard with one out against Hector Ambriz.
Xavier Cedeno (0-1) came in to pitch and promptly served up a score-tying, three-run blast to Bruce.
Todd Frazier followed with a single, chasing Cedeno in favor of Wilton Lopez, who then surrendered consecutive run-scoring doubles to Chris Heisey and Miguel Cairo.
Jose Arrendondo (6-2) earned the win despite yielding a pair of runs.
Jonathan Broxton tossed a 1-2-3 eighth and Aroldis Chapman racked up his 34th save for the National League Central-leading Reds, who took the rubber match of a three-game series.
Tyler Greene went 2-for-3 with a solo homer for the Astros.
