
CLEVELAND, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- A three-run homer by Josh Donaldson put Oakland in front for good in the fourth inning Wednesday and the Athletics went on to club Cleveland 8-4.
Oakland has won five games in a row and has moved within 4 1/2 games of Texas for the lead in the American League West.
The A's produced 15 hits and built a 6-2 lead through seven innings. Yoenis Cespedes went 3-for-5 with an RBI and he scored twice.
Travis Blackley (5-3) was credited with the win after giving up two runs on three hits over 5 2/3 innings.
Ryan Cook came into the game for Oakland with the A's leading by only two runs in the eighth and recorded the final four outs to pick up his 13th save.
Corey Kluber (0-3) remained winless in six major-league starts, giving up three runs on eight hits in six innings.
Oakland lost its first two meetings with Cleveland this season and has won the last seven.
