CHICAGO, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Chicago White Sox pitcher John Danks is being sued by a friend who fell from a ladder at Danks' condo, the man's lawyer said.

The lawsuit alleges Danks refused to call 911 after Blake Papst, a high school classmate of Danks', fell about 10 feet onto a rooftop deck in August 2010. Despite Papst repeatedly asking for his cellphone to call for help, the suit alleges Danks refused, allowing Papst to remain on the deck unable to move for several hours before Papst's brother and Danks moved him to a bedroom.

Papst's lawyer said his client suffered a spinal cord injury and is paraplegic as a result of the accident. The lawsuit, filed Aug. 14 in Cook County Circuit Court, was first reported by the Chicago Tribune.

Neither Papst nor his lawyer were reached for comment by the Tribune.

Danks, 27, a former first round pick of the Texas Rangers, has been on the disabled list since May. He was a 15-game winner in 2010 with a career ERA of 4.12 in six major league seasons, all with the White Sox.
