NEW YORK, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Mike McCoy went to third on an 11th-inning error and scored the go-ahead run on an infield out Monday, giving Toronto an 8-7 win over the New York Yankees.

The Yankees had forced extra frames on Derek Jeter's lead-off homer in the bottom of the ninth, but their defense let them down two innings later.

Yorvit Torrealba led off the 11th with a single against Derek Lowe (8-11).

McCoy came in as a pinch-runner and drew a throw from Lowe that got past first baseman Eric Chavez, allowing him to advance to third.

Adeiny Hechavarria then hit a dribbler to third baseman Jayson Nix and McCoy took off for the plate. After recording the out at first, Chavez fired to home plate but it was too late catch McCoy.

The tally made a winner of Darren Oliver (3-2), who hurled two scoreless frames as the Blue Jays took the first of a three-game set.

Colby Rasmus smacked a three-run homer, Torrealba finished 3-for-5 with a two-run clout and Adam Lind provided a solo shot for Toronto.

Robinson Cano supplied a pair of bases-empty blasts and Nick Swisher added a two-run homer for the American League East-leading Yankees.
